AED Sales and Marketing Department Holds Products Launch Campaign

  • In continuation of its marketing plan to launch its new products in all regions of the Kingdom, the AED Sales and Marketing Department, represented by its Marketing Communications and Product Marketing Departments in cooperation with Standard Projects Sales and Wholesales Departments, recently held a launch ceremony for the new generation of Raysan distribution boards and Masa switches and sockets.
  • The event took place at the JW Marriott Hotel, Riyadh, in the presence of approximately 350 consultants, real estate developers and distributors.
  • The ceremony was inaugurated with a speech delivered by Eng. Mohammed Fahad Al-Othaim, General Manager of Sales and Marketing at alfanar Electrical Division, in which he welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their trust and continued support. He said: “We are here today presenting to you a new group of products that represent the fruit of our continuous efforts in research and development and are the result of modern technologies and high-quality materials, copied with unrivalled designs to guarantee your safety and protection, in addition to continuing our approach to providing warranty and free technical support service in various regions of the Kingdom.”
  • The ceremony included a presentation by Eng. Khaled Husam, LVDB Product Manager, and Eng. Khaled Sandouka, Wiring Accessories Product Manager in AED Sales and Marketing Department, during which they reviewed the characteristics of the new products, and shed light on alfanar’s commitment to international and national standards, and the strict inspection and testing stages that products undergo during all stages of manufacturing to ensure their compliance with international quality standards before being put on the market.
  • The ceremony also included a seminar on safety requirements in electrical products, attended by representatives of official authorities from the Saudi Building Code, Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, and Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources.
  • Attendees had the opportunity to see up close the newly launched product designs through the interactive, sleek and modern displays, which received great interaction reflected by the volume of participation and positive responses. The attendees expressed their sincere thanks to alfanar management for organizing events that give the opportunity to learn more about alfanar products’ technical characteristics that distinguish it from its competitors.
  • It is noteworthy that this event is part of a massive campaign organized by AED Sales and Marketing Department in the major cities in the Kingdom, where two product launch events were organized in each of Kempinski Al Othman Hotel in Dammam and Jeddah Hilton Hotel, targeting approximately 500 customers and partners, providing that similar product launch events in the remaining cities of the Kingdom will be scheduled during year 2023.

H.E. Minister of Investment, Saudi Arabia visits alfanar SAF facility in UK

  • H.E. Eng. Khalid AlFalih, Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, recently visited alfanar SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) project in the United Kingdom. The minister was warmly received by Eng. Amer Alajmi, EVP, and Mr. Mishal AlMutlaq, CIO of alfanar Projects.
  • The advanced technologies implemented in the SAF project were showcased during the Minister’s tour.   • In line with the rapid changes taking place in the electric vehicles sector and the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Green Initiative 2023, the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center recently hosted the EV Auto Show 2023, held October 9 to 11, 2023, in cooperation with major distinguished international and local companies in the electric vehicles industry.
  • The exhibition aims to promote sustainable mobility, highlights the latest developments and innovations in the electric vehicle industry and provides the opportunity for participants, decision makers and automotive industry experts to showcase their electric vehicles and electric charging equipment and infrastructure services.

  • alfanar had a remarkable presence at the 10th edition of the Saudi Arabian Smart Grid Conference 2022 as a strategic sponsor. Under the theme “Integrated Solutions for Sustainable Energy” and the patronage of the Ministry of Energy, the conference was held at the Hilton Riyadh Hotel on December 12th to 14th 2022 in the presence of some of the largest power utilities, technologies and telecommunications companies from inside and outside the Kingdom.
  • At the opening ceremony, honorary plaques were awarded to the sponsors of the event in gratitude of their support to the event. Eng. Abdul Raouf Eizzi, Executive Manager, AED Project Sales, received the honorary plaque on behalf of alfanar.

alfanar Global Development signs $3.5 billion green hydrogen project in Egypt

  • In line with the Middle East Green Initiative lunched by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, alfanar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), the Sovereign Fund of Egypt (TSFE), the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA), to develop a green ammonia facility in Egypt. The $3.5 billion project will use renewable energy sources and produce 500,000 tons of green ammonia from 100,000 tons of green hydrogen per year.
  • The agreement was signed in the presence of His Excellency Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt; Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy; Hala Elsaid, Minister of Planning & Economic Development; along with Saudi officials, Faisal A. Al-Yemni, Deputy Minister of Investment; and Mazeed Al-Hoishan, Saudi Consul to Egypt. alfanar was represented in the signing ceremony by Eng. Sabah Al-Mutlaq, Managing Director of alfanar Projects; Eng. Jamal Wadi, President of alfanar Projects; and Eng. Amer Al Ajmi, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

alfanar Invests 5 Billion SAR to Produce 180m Liters Yearly of Sustainable Aviation Fuel

UK Prime Minister Briefed on alfanar Sustainable Energy’s Latest Projects
  • As part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and during his visit to the Sabic Development Centre in Riyadh, Mr. Boris Johnson, the UK Prime Minister, visited the stand of alfanar company, whose representatives gave him an outline of alfanar project in Teesside, North East of the UK, where the company is investing one billion pounds in the "Lighthouse Green Fuel" project to produce sustainable aviation fuel from waste.
  • The project, which is the first of its kind in the UK, produces more than 180 million liters of sustainable aviation fuel annually in the United Kingdom. This amount of sustainable aviation fuel is sufficient to operate 15,000 flights per year, reducing harmful carbon emissions from conventional fuels by more than 700,000 tons annually.
  • The project is part of alfanar's ongoing Green Energy Development program in different parts of the world, including Spain, India, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

VIP Delegation from the Ministry of Energy visits Medinet alfanar Alsinaiya and SMP Control Center

  • In line with the continued support between alfanar and the Ministry of Energy, a high-level delegation from the Ministry headed by Mr. Fouad Mousa, Head of Development of Local Content, Crisis Management, and Risk Department, Mr. Mohammed Al Moutawa, General Manager for Local Content Department, and Mr. Faisal Al Yemni, Head of Renewable Energy Projects Development Office, paid a special two day visit to Medinet alfanar Alsinaiya (AIC) to witness the technological advancement of alfanar’s industrial arm and the SMP Control Center.
  • The delegation was warmly received by Eng. Abdul Salam Al Mutlaq, Chairman of alfanar, Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman; Eng. Amer Al Ajmi, VP – Sales & Marketing, and Eng. Wassim Al Malouhi, VP – Growth and Strategy.
  • During the visit, the delegation toured the production lines, which included distribution boards and standard products, low and medium voltage switchgear, cables and wires; electrical switches and sockets, circuit breakers, and transformers factories. The visitors witnessed the various rigorous tests and safety procedures that the products undergo to ensure they comply with the highest safety and quality standards.
  • The visit also included a presentation on alfanar’s journey in localizing the industry, after which a discussion followed focusing on potential solutions for supporting national companies and to explore possible investment opportunities.
  • The second day included a visit to the SMP Control Center – considered to be one of the largest digital transformation projects in the Kingdom. (It is important to note that one of alfanar's projects was the successful installation of 5 million smart meters within a tight timeline.) The delegation witnessed the facility and the quality control center for the project after which a discussion followed that comes in line with the vision of both entities to enhance the role of the local private sector in the energy sector and a discussion on case studies and energy localization industry enablers.

alfanar’s LGF project in UK shortlisted for Green Fuels, Green Skies (GFGS) competition

  • alfanar’s Lighthouse Green Fuels (LGF) project in the UK has recently been shortlisted for the UK Government’s Department of Transport’s (DfT) Green Fuels, Green Skies (GFGS) Competition.
  • The GFGS competition aims to support and accelerate the development of the UK’s nascent sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) sector.
  • alfanar is committed to the development of the UK’s SAF sector and intends to deploy innovative SAF production technologies on a commercial scale that can reduce emissions from the aviation sector. Its LGF project, located in Tees Valley, plans to be the first commercial scale SAF production plant deployed in the UK.
  • The innovative waste-to-liquid (WtL) process utilizes gasification and Fischer-Tropsch (FT) technology to convert household and commercial waste, otherwise destined for landfill or incineration, into approximately 180 MM liters of SAF and naphtha.
  • The LGF project is currently completing Pre-FEED optimization work ahead of starting the FEED by the end of 2021.
  • With an environmentally conscious development portfolio in Solar PV, Wind, Water Treatment, and Circular Economy projects, alfanar’s sustainable infrastructure projects have made its solutions accessible to more than 3 million people worldwide through projects in Saudi Arabia, the UK, Spain, India, and Egypt.

alfanar signs memorandum of understanding with Saudi Building Code National Committee

  • As part of the continued cooperation between alfanar and the Saudi Building Code National Committee, alfanar recently signed a memorandum of understanding with SBC that qualifies alfanar to execute training programs on the Saudi Building Code for the private sector. The training programs are geared towards consulting offices, engineers, observers and inspection offices under the supervision of the Technical and Vocational Training Cooperation.
  • The signing ceremony was attended by members and representatives of SBC technical teams and government officials. The two parties were represented in this agreement by Eng. Turki ben Humaidan Al-Turki, Public Relations Manager at alfanar Electrical Division, and Eng. Saad bin Saleh bin Shuail, Secretary General of the Saudi Building Code.
  • The memorandum incorporated the inclusion of alfanar's name on the Saudi Building Code National Committee’s website as one of the companies eligible to provide training on the Saudi Building Code, cooperation to facilitate the implementation of related training programs and development of a training portfolio, and the ability to share announcements of alfanar’s training programs on the SBC website.
  • On this occasion, Eng.   • alfanar, represented by its AED Marketing Dept, and in collaboration with the Saudi Customer Protection Association and various government authorities and key distributors, recently organized the third “Replace it for your Safety” campaign. The campaign is a continuation of alfanar’s social awareness initiatives on the dangers of counterfeit and non-conforming electrical products to lives and property. In synchronization with the Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality Organization’s latest decision to commit to attain the SASO quality mark for extension cord products, the campaign aims to replace for free 35000 counterfeit electrical extension cords with alfanar’s original extension cords at SEC, SASO, SFDA and MOH headquarters, in addition to 10 SACO and Extra retail outlets and 14 distributor shops throughout the Kingdom.
  • The campaign was inaugurated at SASO headquarters, as the 1st free replacement outlet for consumers, and preceded by an activity at Saudi Electricity Company headquarters, attended by Eng. Abdul Salam Al Mutlaq, Chairman of alfanar and Dr. Raed Al Eid, VP Sales and Marketing, AED, who thanked all participating authorities, and asserted that alfanar will continue to cooperate with concerned authorities in the fight against commercial fraud until the market is void of non-conforming products.

  • Continuing its achievements in the renewable and clean energy field, alfanar recently commissioned the SECI Tranche III 300 MW Wind Power Project in Bhuj, India.
  • The project was commissioned two months ahead of its scheduled commercial operation date despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the achievement of Tranche III, the grid is receiving a total 300 MW load of energy, providing clean, renewable power to 145,000 households, and reducing CO2 emissions by 170,000 tons yearly.
  • India is globally recognized for having the fourth largest renewable energy market. As a symbol of its leadership in the renewable energy sector, alfanar was the first Saudi company to participate in India’s wind sector competitive bidding, where it secured two SECI projects. Following the completion of Tranche III, the company is now pacing towards achievement of Tranche V, a second 300 MW wind project.

  • On the sidelines of alfanar’s recent participation at the MEE 2019 Exhibition, the region’s leading trade event for the power and electricity sector, the company signed numerous strategic and partnership agreements with renowned regional and international companies in various business sectors. The agreements are in line with alfanar’s vision of building distinguished business relationships that embrace technological advancement in manufacturing and product development and expand new horizons for its business activities.
  • On the first day of MEE 2019, company delegations visited the alfanar pavilion to sign agreements with alfanar. Three agreements for electrical product development were signed by the alfanar Electrical Division, represented by Mr. Mohammed Al Swailem, GM Transformers and Cables Factories. The first agreement was with Borouge, an ADNOC company and a leading provider of innovative plastic solutions in the Middle East. The MoU streamlines the supply operations of cable insulation material used for alfanar (LV, MV, HV) cables throughout 2019.
  • Al Swailem also signed a contract with DUCAB for the annual supply of “Copper Rod” for 2019, and a MoU with M & I Materials, a UK based company, to provide advanced solutions for special oils for transformers (natural and synthetic ester oils).
  • Another agreement to highlight is alfanar’s strategic partnership with Huawei Technology, a pioneer in the development and production of IoT and Smart Solutions and devices for homes and buildings. The basis of this agreement is a cooperation whereby Huawei develops and manufactures smart systems and devices for alfanar. The main objective of the cooperation is to add additional key devices to alfanar’s portfolio of IoT and Smart Solutions for homes and buildings to meet the increased demand for these products and solutions in the MENA market.

  • alfanar Construction recently celebrated its achievement of 21 Million Safe Manhours in 2018, reflecting management’s commitment of ensuring safe working conditions in a complicated environment. With an average of 7,000 workers involved in various construction activities at different projects spread across the Kingdom, the achievement of safe manhours of this scale is an extraordinary feat!
  • Organized by the Total Safety Management (TSM) department, the celebration aimed to recognize projects displaying outstanding EHS standards.
  • Among the 40 ongoing projects, 5 projects were awarded trophies, shields and certificates of excellence. The recognized projects were ranked the best based on 15 criteria points set by the TSM department which included projects meeting client audit reports, zero accidents, highest safe man-hours, and site welfare activities, to name a few.
  • The Best Project award was bagged by the PE-181 team which was involved in the Construction of the 380/115/33kV Substation in Jubail, followed by the team for the civil works for the Khurais Area Facilities Expansion & Satellite GOSP (PC-118) and the team involved in the Design and Construction of the 8H Substation at Yanbu (PE-182). Fourth position was bagged by three projects jointly: by Civil Works-PP13 Power Plant, Dhurma (PC-115); Construction of 380/115/13.8kV BSP, Dammam North (PE-166); and EPC of 50 MW Solar PV PP, Aswan, Egypt (PS-183).
  • During the celebration’s inauguration, Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Vice Chairman of alfanar, addressed the gathering and commended the projects and TSM teams for the milestone they achieved. Mr. Ahmed Saad, General Manager – Projects Execution, highlighted the challenges faced by the projects team in delivering a quality project in a scheduled period while being properly guided by the TSM staff to ensure there were no lost time injuries. A brief into the journey towards achieving the milestone was presented by Mr. Ishtiaq Hashmi, Manager-TSM.
  • The awards for the projects and project personnel were distributed by Mr. Sabah Al Mutlaq in the presence of Mr. Abdullah Al Hammad, President- Construction Division, and other members of management.
  • The ceremony will now be a permanent feature of TSM’s yearly objectives and next year overseas projects including the UK, Spain, India, and the UAE will compete parallel to the KSA projects.

  • The region’s leading trade event for the power and electricity sector, MEE 2018, was officially inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Ahmad bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA), at the Dubai World Trade Center, running from March 6 – 8, 2018. As the Platinum sponsor of MEE 2018, alfanar welcomed visitors and participants from around the world to its expanded pavilion, where within the ample space of the pavilion alfanar showcased a new line-up of products and solutions from its’ different business units.
  • The pavilion attracted the attention of VIP’s from various countries, including ambassadors, government officials, and senior-level industry decision makers, who were greatly impressed by the display of the latest collections of high-tech electrical product innovations and equipment including switches and sockets, LV, MV, HV power cables, special applications cables, distribution transformers, power distribution and control panels of low and medium voltage, and protection panels.

  • In line with alfanar’s efforts to support the Kingdom’s 2030 vision for the localization of professions and expanding new horizons for Saudi Youth, a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Labor & Social Development, headed by Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, Eng. Ghazi Al Shahrani, paid a special visit to alfanar Industrial City.

The Projects Management Academy (PMA) launches its 3rd batch

  • In continuation of its efforts in developing the human resource skills and capabilities, alfanar has recently announced the launch of the 3rd batch of the Projects Management Academy (PMA) after successfully graduating 17 engineers from the first batch in 2012 and the second batch in 2016. These graduates of the PMA program will now take their place in alfanar future leaders.
  • The 3rd batch is comprising of 16 engineers, 10 from the Construction division and 6 from the Industrial division, who will contribute to creating a versatile and intellectual environment during the 2-year PMA sessions. During the orientation session, which was held on March 8th, 2018, Mr. Moustafa Hassaan the acting training manager presented the Academy program framework, execution methodology, batch scheduling, PMA process and procedures of the extensive two-year program.
  • Mr. Ahmed Saad, General Manager Project Execution P&W, delivered a motivating welcome speech to the participants as he articulated the importance of the PMA program and its effective influence of the previous PMA graduates and their valuable contribution to the company and for their future careers. alfanar signs agreements with LSIS to localize the industry of medium voltage vacuum breakers

  • Based on the memorandum of understanding that was signed with the Korean company on the sidelines of MEE Exhibition, Dubai 2017, a new agreement has been signed recently in the presence of alfanar Chairman, Engineer Abdul Salam Al Mutlaq, to localize medium voltage breakers industry, on 23rd April 2017 at alfanar head office.
  • The ratified agreement includes a license from LSIS allowing alfanar to localize the technology and to manufacture the medium voltage vacuum breakers inside its premises. Besides, LSIS will supply the components of the breaker, so that it can be assembled and tested in the medium voltage factory. On the other hand, LSIS undertakes the installation of an automated production and testing line in alfanar that will be identical with the one owned by LSIS in Korea, thereby upgrading the production capacity of alfanar in order to cover the regional markets with the highest quality products, knowing that this production line is considered as one of the newest in manufacturing medium voltage vacuum breakers worldwide.
  • It is worth to mention that, the localization of the industry will enhance the strategic partnership between the two companies.

CEO of Saudi Electricity Company Official Visit to alfanar Industrial City

  • A VIP delegation from Saudi Electricity Company, led by the Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Ziyad Mohammed Al-Shiha, visited alfanar Industrial City recently to witness the diverse capabilities of alfanar’s industrial arm and the EPC contracting division and to discuss the potential opportunities of future business cooperation.
  • The delegation was marked by the presence of the National Grid CEO Eng. Laith Al Bassam, and his team, which included VPs Eng. Mansoor Al Qahtani, Eng. Khaled AL Rashed, Mr. Suleiman Al Hobishi and other SEC department managers. The delegation was received by alfanar Chairman Eng. Abdul Salam Al Mutlaq along with Vice Chairman, Eng. Sabah Al Mutlaq, Eng. Abdullah Al Hamad, President alfanar Construction, Eng. Raed Al Eid VP Sales & Marketing and other department managers.

SEC honors alfanar with the most distinguished supplier award

  • Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) recently organized the 5th Suppliers Forum to discuss the company’s future plans, as well as honor its most key suppliers for 2015.
  • As one of the distinguished and important suppliers in the Distribution sector, alfanar, represented by Mr. Raed Al Eid, General Manager – Project Sales, was honored with a shield of excellence by Mr. Ziyad Alshiha, President and CEO of Saudi Electricity Co.
  • In the year 2015, alfanar emerged as one of the top suppliers for the Distribution sector, starting with an order for the supply of 127 ring main units (SFA). It went on to supply various other distribution products worth SR 691 million for 2015, including 8,500kms of low and medium voltage cables worth SR437 million and 4,150 transformers worth SR 243 million to the various projects of Saudi Electricity Company.

  • The Inauguration ceremony for the 33KV Electrical Supply of King Abdul Aziz Public Transport Project (Riyadh Metro) was held on Sunday 20/12/2015 under the patronage of Mr. Tarek Al Fares, Vice Undersecretary, Higher Commission for the Development of Riyadh and Eng. Mosaid Al Jubair, Central Region Head, Saudi Electricity Company.
  • Being a key strategic partner for the landmark project, alfanar received a special invitation to the Inauguration ceremony as a token of merit for its prominent performance in manufacturing & supply 93% of 33KV Medium voltage cables for the Riyadh Metro project totaling to 1,115kms in length and amounting to SR 263 million.
  • It is worth mentioning that six major contractors are participating in the excavation & laying of 500KM of underground cables to cover the project in Riyadh, which require manufacturing & supply 1200KM of underground cables, adding up the project value to 730 million.

  • alfanar, one of the leading companies in Saudi Arabia with market leadership in electrical products and construction, recently announced that it is finalizing the statutory procedures for the 100% acquisition of the shares in German based Heinrich Kopp from Palero Invest, in a bid to strengthen and expand its global presence.
  • Heinrich Kopp is a well-known brand in the European market specializing in the manufacturing of switchgears and other household control systems. The acquisition will include all the company’s operations across Europe, including facilities in Wijchen (Netherlands), Vienna (Austria), Messaadine (Tunisia), in addition to the main manufacturing center at Kahl, Germany.
  • Mr. Abdulsalam Al Mutlaq, Chairman, alfanar group, during the announcement stated, “The acquisition comes at a time where alfanar is aggressively involved in expanding its product portfolio and the markets it operates in as well as reaching out to new markets”. He further added that, “by this acquisition, alfanar will further have access to the European markets and enhance its industrial capabilities in the Kingdom.”
